Making the most of your days off is essential and public holidays are an excellent opportunity to do so. That&#8217;s why we&#8217;re revealing how you can <strong>increase your rest periods<\/strong> by using holidays and bridges to your advantage.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Holidays in 2026<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2026, <strong>9 of the 13 compulsory holidays will fall on working days<\/strong>, which is good news for those who value days off. Taking Easter Sunday out of the equation, only Freedom Day (April 25), the Assumption of Our Lady (August 15) and All Saints&#8217; Day (November 1) fall on weekends. <br><br><strong>Carnival<\/strong>, which takes place on Tuesday, February 17, is an optional holiday, and public institutions and companies decide on time off. You should also consider the <strong>municipal holiday <\/strong>in the town where your company is located. <br><br>Thus, the list of compulsory holidays in 2026 is organized as follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>January 1st<\/strong> (Thursday): New Year&#8217;s Day;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>April 3 <\/strong>(Friday): Good Friday;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>April 5<\/strong> (Sunday): Easter;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>April 25th<\/strong> (Saturday): Freedom Day;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>May 1st<\/strong> (Friday): Labor Day;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>June 4<\/strong> (Thursday): Body of God;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>June 10<\/strong> (Wednesday): Day of Portugal, Cam\u00f5es and the Portuguese Communities;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>August 15th<\/strong> (Saturday): Assumption of Our Lady;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>October 5<\/strong> (Monday): Implantation of the Republic;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>November 1st<\/strong> (Sunday): All Saints&#8217; Day;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>December 1st<\/strong> (Tuesday): Restoration of Independence;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>December 8th<\/strong> (Tuesday): Immaculate Conception Day;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>December 25<\/strong> (Friday): Christmas.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Long weekends and bridge days in 2026<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Now let&#8217;s count the <strong>long weekends<\/strong>. There will be <strong>four<\/strong> in all, as some public holidays fall on Fridays or Mondays. They are:  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>April 3 to 5 (Friday to Sunday);<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>May 1st to 3rd (Friday to Sunday);<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>October 3rd to 5th (Saturday to Monday);<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>December 25-27 (Friday to Sunday).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>For those of you who want to take advantage of the vacations to do <strong>bridge<\/strong> <strong>days<\/strong>, you can do it on 3 occasions:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>June 4 to 7 (Thursday to Sunday);<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>November 28th to December 1st (Saturday to Tuesday);<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>December 5th to 8th (Saturday to Tuesday).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>In short, good holiday management in 2026 offers the ideal opportunity to plan moments of leisure and rest, something essential for your well-being and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.edenred.pt\/novidades\/trabalho\/work-life-balance-como-alcancar-o-equilibrio-entre-vida-pessoal-e-profissional\/\">achieving a balance between personal and professional life<\/a>.
