6 de January, 2026
January is the perfect month to look at the calendar and start planning your 2026 vacation. Making the most of your days off is essential and public holidays are an excellent opportunity to do so. That’s why we’re revealing how you can increase your rest periods by using holidays and bridges to your advantage.
Holidays in 2026
In 2026, 9 of the 13 compulsory holidays will fall on working days, which is good news for those who value days off. Taking Easter Sunday out of the equation, only Freedom Day (April 25), the Assumption of Our Lady (August 15) and All Saints’ Day (November 1) fall on weekends.
Carnival, which takes place on Tuesday, February 17, is an optional holiday, and public institutions and companies decide on time off. You should also consider the municipal holiday in the town where your company is located.
Thus, the list of compulsory holidays in 2026 is organized as follows:
- January 1st (Thursday): New Year’s Day;
- April 3rd (Friday): Good Friday;
- April 5th (Sunday): Easter;
- April 25th (Saturday): Freedom Day;
