Ideas for what to give your employees for Christmas
5 de December, 2022
The celebration of the Christmas spirit is not limited to the family, but should also take place in the workplace.
Companies, and those responsible for human resources, should take advantage of this time of year to foster a close relationship with employees, recognize the work they have done during the year and reward them with a Christmas present.
Choosing a gift for employees can seem like a challenge, but it doesn’t have to be! We’ll give you some ideas below.
Christmas gift ideas for employees
Discover some suggestions to suit all budgets:
- Box of chocolates: chocolates are a common sight on Christmas and New Year’s Eve tables. Therefore, although it’s a more frequent option, employees will certainly appreciate this gift and share it with family and friends this festive season.
- Tickets to the cinema or theater: going to the cinema or theater are activities that most people enjoy. Offer two or more tickets to each employee so that they can share the experience with someone else.
- Experience vouchers: it could be a massage, a meal in a restaurant, an extreme activity or a stay… the options are many and can help employees to take a moment for themselves and disconnect from work.
- Wine bottle or kit: a good bottle of wine is always a good solution, especially during the holiday season. If you want to offer something different, you could opt for a kit that includes accessories such as a corkscrew, a thermometer, a refreshing sleeve and a decanter, for example.
- Mugs or water bottles: they may not be the most original gifts, but they are undoubtedly useful. Whether they’re mugs or reusable water bottles, you can personalize them with your company’s visual identity.
- Christmas hamper: this is a very traditional gift offered by many companies and can include products such as wine or sparkling wine, a box of chocolates, cheeses or sausages, nuts, snacks, among others. Depending on your budget, you can opt for a basket with more or fewer products.
- Technology: whether it’s headphones, a power bank or a charging station that allows you to charge several devices at the same time… these are just a few examples of “gadgets” that employees are sure to appreciate.
- Home office kit: if your company’s employees are teleworking (either 100% remotely or just a few days a week/month), you can put together a kit with accessories to make it easier for them to work from home. This kit could include a notepad, pen or mouse pad, for example. If your budget is higher, you can provide monitors to connect to your laptop or even ergonomic office chairs to ensure greater comfort while working.
- Platform subscriptions: there are several streaming platforms, such as Spotify or Netflix, that offer subscription gift cards for a certain period (1 month, 3 months or 6 months, for example). This can be an original idea that will most likely please your employees.
- Souvenirs for employees’ children: some companies give gifts not only to their employees, but also to their children. The ability to do this will obviously depend on the budget available and the number of employees with children. But some ideas could be a gift card to a bookstore, for example, or tickets to an attraction such as the Zoo, the Oceanarium or the Pavilion of Knowledge.
- Solidarity gifts: because Christmas is much more about giving than receiving, you can take the opportunity to turn gifts for your employees into a gesture of solidarity. A number of institutions and associations offer charitable gifts, and their purchase is an important contribution to the actions and projects carried out by these organizations. Here are some ideas: Aldeias de Crianças SOS, AMI, Médicos do Mundo, Fundação do Gil, Make-A-Wish, Animais de Rua and Operação Nariz Vermelho.
- Gift cards: a gift card can be a good choice as it gives employees the freedom to choose where and when to spend the amount awarded. One solution could be Edenred Gift, a check with no value limit – you can decide how much to give employees – which can be used on a wide range of products and services in the areas of fashion, technology, leisure, hotels, health and wellness, cosmetics and much more.
As you can see, there are countless possibilities for giving gifts to your employees this Christmas. More than the gift itself, what matters is the intention of the gesture, which should make the employee feel valued and appreciated.
